The Wayne State Multiple Sclerosis Treatment and Neuroimmunology Clinical Research Center

The Wayne State Multiple Sclerosis Center serves a population of more than 4,000 MS patients with the largest group of African Americans in the country.  It is designated by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as a Center for Comprehensive MS Care and is a member of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Center.  It is nationally and internationally recognized for patient care, innovative technology and cutting edge research. We provide high quality care and we work closely with other specialties, including neuropsychologists, urologists, physical, occupational and speech therapists.  We see patients with a wide range of autoimmune disorders, including:

  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Neuromyelitis optica
  • Transverse myelitis
  • Optic neuritis,
  • CNS vasculitis
  • Neurosarcoidosis
  • Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM)
  • Autoimmune encephalitis

Our clinical team consists of three MS specialists, one MS fellow, one Nurse Practitioner, one Physical therapist, one Neuropsychologist, two registered nurses and two medical assistants. As we participate in numerous clinical trials, our patients have access not only to already approved FDA-treatments but also to investigational drugs. We emphasize an individualized approach, as MS is a multi-facet and unpredictable disease.  The mission of our center is to provide the best and most compassionate care, to control the disease and improve quality of life.
